Note: This map shows the region that Henry Hudson explored just 70 years earlier, prior to being set adrift in Hudson Bay. The ‘Eskimo’ Peoples of the by the late 1600’s had become aware of Westerners and their large sea craft but their society and culture was wholly uninfluenced by them.
